Catherine Jones (née Gary), was born on February 20, 1933 in Birmingham, Alabama to Lucy Gary and Henry Jackson (both deceased). She received her formal education in the Birmingham Public School System. On December 28, 1949, Catherine united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Lee Jones and to this union five children were born.
Catherine accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Shiloh Baptist Church with her grandfather. He was a Sunday School Teacher and made sure his family went to church and knew God as their personal Lord and Savior. Catherine continued her education at Wenonah State Technical Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, where she received her degree in Nursing. After graduating, she gained employment at Hillman Hospital. In 1965 the family relocated to Detroit. Catherine then found employment at Hutzel Hospital and remained there until her retirement.
Catherine was mild mannered and a sharp dresser. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Catherine departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. She will be missed by all who loved her.
She leaves to cherish her most precious memories two sons: Kenneth and Marvin; granddaughter: Aisha; two great-grandsons: Ethan and Ezra; one sister: Mary Leonard, Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers: Nathan Jackson (Gloria) and LaRush Sterling (Rita), Detroit, Michigan; niece/daughter: Sharon Troutman, Bedford Heights, Ohio; great-niece: Azuree Walker (Donald), Stockbridge, Georgia; two great-nephews: Vincent Gaines and Brandon Gaines, Cleveland, Ohio; two first cousins: Ethel Fletcher, Birmingham, Alabama and Frank Baker (Annie), Shaker Heights, Ohio; special cousin/daughter: Venitta Thomas (Michael), Birmingham, Alabama; special granddaughter: Raven Clark, Detroit, Michigan; close friend: Mary Daniels, Birmingham, Alabama and a host of loving family and friends.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Robert; two sons: Ronald and LeBaron; one daughter: Beverly: one brother: David Gary and one sister-in-law: Doris Watson.
