Alfonzo McAfee was born on May 26, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan.

He attended the Detroit Public Schools System. He graduated from Miller High School class of 1950. After graduating, he joined the United States Marine Corp as an Airplane Dispatch Clerks.

Alfonzo attended several business schools and entrepreneurship programs. Along the way while enduring his journey to discovering life, he met his adorable wife, Emmagene McAfee in February, 1956. They were married for 67 years until her death on June 21, 2023.

Alfonzo worked 30 years for the United States Postal Services. After retiring, his passion of being an entrepreneur led him to open two gift and novelties stores located inside the Renaissance Center. One store was located on the second floor and the second one was located on the 71st floor which had a revolving view of the Detroit and Windsor Landscape. When the Renaissance Center was sold, he relocated hisbusiness into a store front on Jefferson Avenue still in the downtown area. He would work this venture for at least 15 years until he officially retired.

Alfonzo was a long-standing member of the Word of Faith International Christian Center.

Alfonzo was the last born of ten children. All preceded him in death; Lorenzo McAfee, Josephine Johnson, Hiawatha Jemison, Queen Thomas, James McAfee, Juanita Lee, Jessie Coleman, Mildred Crawford and Margaret West. He leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews and many friends to cherish his memories.
