Juanita Marie Pannell was born September 14th, 1953 to Edwyna and Orange Lee Pannell Sr. in Detroit Michigan.
Juanita attended Holy Cross Catholic School and later entered the Detroit Public School System and graduated from Pershing High School where she met her first love, Thersa Dodson ‘Drake’, where two beautiful children were born, LaTeshiea Pannell & Drake Dodson. As years passed, Juanita married Earl Cooper. Juanita worked for the census bureau and delivered telephone books until she began working for the State of Michigan as a social worker where she met the final love of her life, Michael Dooley.
Juanita retired in 2002 from the State of Michigan due to her life-long challenge with MS but still wouldn’t stop working. She was a caregiver for her mother Edwyna until she was no longer able to. Juanita enjoyed laughing, dancing, and listening to music. Her favorite things to do were going to Burnette Baptist Church where she belonged to the Nurse’s Guild. She liked spending time with her love, Michael. They would take long night rides, talk and fish. Juanita loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Everyone knew her favorite rap song was DMX – “Ya’ll gone make me lose my mind”. Juanita was truly loved by everyone that knew her.
Juanita was proceeded in death by her father Orange Pannell, brother Leonard, niece Adrienne. She leaves to treasure her memories, her mother Edwyna, daughter Latashiea, son Drake, daughter-in-love Shahidda Dodson, Sister Jean, brother Hassan “Earl”, sister-in-love Cheryl, aunt Everlena Glen, four grandsons Drake, Andre, Deron, Dewayne, 3 granddaughters Shahidda, Marie, Amari, Juanita and Sarah Dodson-Williams, great-grandkids Drake, Ashley, Ashton, Makenzie, Desean, and Jae, nephew Mark, nieces Petrina & Pat.
Visitation Services for Juanita Cooper will be held at Thompson Funeral Home Inc., – Northwest chapel on Wednesday, April 17th, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Funeral Services for Juanita Cooper will be held at Greater Burnette Baptist Church, located on 16801 Schoolcraft Rd., Detroit, Michigan. The family hour will begin at 10:00 AM, and the official service time is at 11:00 AM. Final internment will be located at Roseland Park Cemetery.
