“If we died with him, we will also live with him.” 2 Timothy 2:11

REMEMBERING Arte Ira Pierce

Memorial Service: October 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery

Arte Ira Pierce, born June 28, 1924, was the elder of two sons, born to the union of R.T. and Eliza Kate Pierce. His younger brother, James Pierce Sr., preceded in death on April 15, 2008.

Arte Pierce, served in the United States Army in Normandy and Northern France, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1946 for service to his country. Arte graduated from Detroit Institute of Technology (Detroit), and in 1979, he was elected 4th National VA Council President (Local 138) of the American Federal Government Employees (A.F.G.E.) Union.

Arte was united in marriage to Jennie Lee Dennard on June 8, 1952 and remained her devoted husband for over 55 years until her death April 7, 2008. On February 9, 1955, this union was blessed with a son. Their son, Dr. Arte Pierce, Jr., a private practice psychiatrist, sadly made his transition on August 7, 1990.

In 1999 Arte and Jennie moved to Las Vegas to enjoy retirement and the warmer weather. During their stay in Las Vegas, Arte and Jennie joined the Do Something Different Social Club, and because of his exceptional knowledge and articulation of Robert’s Rules of Order, Arte was elected parliamentarian for his condominium’s home owners association (HOA) Board.

On September 10, 2018 God saw fit to call Arte home. He lived and celebrated life for 94 years. Arte is now with his loving Parents, his son, Dr. Arte Jr., his beautiful wife, Jennie, and his brother, James. He leaves to cherish his memory; his nephew, James Pierce Jr. (Dr. Regina), his niece Zandreia Walker, a very special first-cousin Patsy Sullivan and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends in Las Vegas and Michigan.

“Life is but a stopping place.”

Although, his spirit will forever be alive in the hearts of his family. His physical presence will be missed but the celebration of his life will continue to live on by those who loved him and cherish his memory.

“If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:8
